This is an oldie but goodie. A sink or float activity is a great experiment that is extremely hands on.
large container/ tub
Assorted materials to put in water
The point of this activity is to stir a child’s curiosity and to encourage scientific exploration. It’s to get children to think about why they think the way they do. Something floating because it’s light is a thought process that needs to be nurtured and supported, no matter how naturally it comes to a child. It’s all about encouraging future scientists. Snap a pic and write down the predictions beforehand. How right were they? How right were you? Get to Splashing!!! Sincerely, A Tip Filled Teacher
